Anhui Province, referred to as "Wan", is a provincial-level administrative region of the People's Republic of China, with the provincial capital Hefei City. It is located in East China and the Yangtze River Delta region, with a total area of 140,100 square kilometers. As of the end of 2024, Anhui Province has jurisdiction over 16 prefecture-level cities. In ancient times, about 2.5 million years ago, ancestors lived and multiplied in Anhui. In the sixth year of Emperor Kangxi's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1667), Anhui Province was established, and its name was a combination of the first words of Anqing and Huizhou. At the beginning of the founding of the People's Republic of China, Anhui was divided into two administrative offices: Northern Anhui and Southern Anhui. In 1952, the southern and northern Anhui administrative offices were merged to restore Anhui Province, with the provincial capital located in Hefei.
