Xinzhou City was called "Xiurong" in ancient times, referred to as "Xin", and also known as "Xin". Xinzhou City has a long history, and there have been human activities in the Neolithic Age. During the Yu and Shun period, it was the territory of Bingzhou. It belonged to Jizhou during the Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties, and it was Taiyuan County during the Qin Dynasty. After the Tang, Song, Jin, and Yuan Dynasties, there were several ups and downs during the period. It was not until the founding of the Ming Dynasty that it stabilized. In the second year of Yongzheng reign of the Qing Dynasty, it was promoted to Zhili Prefecture. In the first year of the Republic of China, the prefecture was abolished and changed into a county, called Xin County. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Xinxian District, Xinxian District, and Xinzhou District were successively established. In 2000, with the approval of the State Council, the Xinzhou region and county-level Xinzhou City were abolished and a prefecture-level city was established.. There are 288 cultural relics protection units at the municipal level or above in Xinzhou City. Most of the cultural relics are ancient buildings. Two of the only three Tang Dynasty wooden structures in the country are in Xinzhou. There are nearly 10,000 colored sculptures attached to the ancient buildings and more than 20,000 square meters of temple murals. Xinzhou City has many city business cards such as "Hometown of Wrestling", "Hometown of China's Musical Music", "China's Grain Capital", "Double Support Model City", "National Historical and Cultural City - Dai County", "China's Best Ecological Leisure Tourism Demonstration City".
